Spry Celebrates First-Ever National Scholastic Challenge Champion

national champion! His score of 90 greatly surpassed the national average of 50 and garnered him a trophy. Spry Middle School has taken part in the Scholastic Challenge for 13 years, and while it has had state winners in the past, Jackson is the school’s first national winner.

Jackson is also a part of the state Gold Medal Team that includes fellow Warriors Shannon K. and Anthony C. Their aggregate score put them at the top of their class in New York State! The team was presented with their medals and a plaque for the school at Spry’s Eighth Grade Awards Night.

Thirty Spry eighth graders were nominated by their teachers to take part in Scholastic Challenge 2025. The Challenge is a one-hour, multiple choice exam taken online. Questions cover an array of subjects – everything from science, math, and English to pop culture. Impressively nearly all of the Spry’s students reached or exceeded the 50 percent benchmark, earning them a certificate of achievement.
