One Webster Learning (OWL) Program
One Webster Learning (OWL) is a special education program for students that integrates social emotional learning with academics and related services. It enables Webster CSD to keep our students in our buildings, instead of referring them to a program outside of the district. It provides students with the same resources that their fellow One Webster peers have -- buildings, classrooms, materials -- so when students are ready to integrate back into their home school there is less of a transition, it’s more of a natural progression. The OWL program began at the elementary level in 2018-19 and has since grown to include programs at the middle school and high school levels.

OWL Elementary is housed at Schlegel Road Elementary School and serves students from all seven elementary schools in Webster. Students are able to continue to move forward in the general education curriculum while receiving the support they need to make social and emotional growth. Teachers at all grade levels in the Schlegel-OWL school collaborate regularly to ensure the integrity of the academic program and plan opportunities for students in the OWL program to participate in the general education classrooms and school-wide events. |

OWL Middle, located at Willink Middle School, serves students from both sides of the district and is the newest (2021-22) of the three OWL programs. The program mirrors a typical middle school experience, including lockers, core and encore courses, and rotating through different classrooms throughout the day. |

OWL High School, located at Webster Thomas High School, services One Webster students grades 9-12. Established in the 2020-21 school year, it provides a safe learning environment within the Webster community in which students work toward the New York State Regents Diploma. In the past, these students would attend schools throughout the county. OWL High allows students to receive the high school curriculum with social emotional learning embedded all while given access to the same opportunities their same-age peers receive in a Webster high school setting. |
