Equity and Diversity Initiatives

We are a community of learners who nurture and inspire personal excellence, foster creativity and explore diverse opportunities, celebrate achievements and overcome challenges, and contribute locally and globally for positive change.

Compassionately Connected, Joyfully Engaged, Always Learning.

Creating more inclusive and equitable systems requires efforts by all stakeholders to disavow societal scourges including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and ableism. Webster CSD is working both within our schools and with the broader community to dismantle the barriers that have resulted in disproportionality and inequitable outcomes for students.

Equity and Diversity Initiatives in Our Schools

Webster CSD believes in creating a culture in our schools that is welcoming and engaging for all students and staff. Our faculties are engaged in an ongoing process of professional learning and personal reflection, with the aim to build a more inclusive curriculum and instruction that empowers diverse perspectives.

Students are encouraged to celebrate their authentic selves, both in their classrooms and through extracurricular activities. Webster offers a variety of clubs designed to provide students of differing backgrounds safe places to build community and advocate for change. The DREAM club, International Club, and the Gay/Straight Alliance are examples that our schools offer.

Equity and Diversity Initiatives in Our Community

Webster CSD is committed to creating a “One Webster” community that is anchored in an equity mindset. We strive to build systems that celebrate our community’s diversity as a source of strength and work to ensure that each of the stakeholders feel as if they are truly part of the “One”.

Families Igniting Racial Equity (F.I.R.E.) is a vibrant, parent-led organization whose mission is to build a racially, socially, and economically-just community. The group includes members  throughout our district - parents, teachers, administrators, board of education members - allies all passionate about building a “One Webster” community that challenges the status quo, creates opportunities for productive crucial conversations, acknowledges historical inequities, and supports individual and group agency for change.
