Webster CSD Receives National Recognition for Music Education Support for the 20th Time
Webster CSD is excited to announce that for the 20th time it has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding support and commitment to music education. Now in its 26th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement for providing music access and education to all students.“It's a tremendous honor for Webster CSD to be recognized by The NAMM Foundation for the 20th time as one of the Best Communities for Music Education. This recognition reflects the dedication of our students, teachers, and staff, and the support of our WCSD community,” said Superintendent of Schools Brian Neenan. “This accomplishment illustrates Webster CSD's belief in the power of music to enrich lives and provide a comprehensive educational experience. We are so proud of our students and the musical opportunities within our schools.”
The Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) Award for school districts reaches K-12 schools and districts throughout the U.S. and offer opportunities to increase awareness and support for music programs. More than 1,000 districts and individual school sites (public, private, charter, parochial) were recognized for having the highest commitment to producing exceptional music programs.
“Twenty years of recognition for Webster CSD! This isn’t for one school building. It’s not just one classroom. It can’t be just one teacher,” said Michael Roller, district director of fine arts. “Think of how many students that 20 years means! Our staff plays an integral part in their success! There are celebrations to spotlight across the year that they have contributed to. We have faced challenges together and overcome barriers to allow students greater access and participation in our program.
“The work is never done because we know how important it is to continue advocating for our community,” said Roller. “I feel blessed to be a part of this team.”
To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Webster CSD answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making programs. Responses were verified by school officials and reviewed by the leading arts educational research firm, WolfBrown.
