SparX Ends Season Strong at Roc Regional

The team ended with an Alliance record of 4-3-0 and placed 17th out of 54 teams. In the semifinals, Webster was partnered with teams from Churchville-Chili, Spencerport, and Hilton school districts. SparX competed in the first match, which the alliance won, before being substituted out for the Hilton team. The alliance lost the final two matches to end the season.

During the closing ceremony, SparX was presented with an award recognizing them for being at the RIT competition for all 20 seasons. Team advisor David Schenk is one of the few people who has been part of the F.I.R.S.T. robotics program for all 20 of those years.

The SparX team is made up of students from Webster Schroeder and Webster Thomas high schools. They begin in the fall with practices on the previous year’s robot and competition in the Rochester Rumble hosted by Penfield Central School District. After the first of the year, teams competing in the F.I.R.S.T. robotics program are given the new year’s assignment and have just 6 weeks to build a new robot that can successfully compete in the new game.
