Jazz Musicians Learn, Jam Alongside Eastman Professor
Webster CSD high school jazz musicians were treated to a rare opportunity when guest artist Bob Sneider visited their schools in late April.
The Eastman School of Music Associate Professor of Jazz Studies and Contemporary Media and ECMS Senior Instructor of Jazz Guitar spent April 25 at Webster Thomas and April 26 at Webster Schroeder. During his stay in each building, Sneider spent time working with and performing alongside the beginning, intermediate, and advanced jazz groups. The workshops provided the Titans and Warriors with the opportunity to benefit from Sneider’s decades of experience. The guest appearance culminated with a public Guest Artist Concert on Wednesday, April 26 at Webster Schroeder High School, where Sneider performed with the One Webster jazz musicians for their families and the community to enjoy.
According to the Eastman School of Music website, Sneider joined the university faculty in 1997 after several years with the two-time Grammy Award winner Chuck Mangione. He worked and toured or recorded with numerous other notable performers and made frequent appearances with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra Pops playing guitar and banjo. Sneider has also performed in major festivals, concert halls, and jazz clubs throughout the Americas and Europe. He has several solo and co-led CD projects that have received rave reviews and international airplay. Learn more at https://www.esm.rochester.edu/directory/sneider-bob/.
