Webster Musicians Named to County Honors Ensembles

Two hundred students from across Webster's music program took up the challenge and auditioned for the Monroe County School Music Association (MCSMA) Honors Festivals. They put their musicianship and dedication to the study of their instrument or voice in front of accredited professional music adjudicators this past January. Webster CSD is thrilled to announce that nearly half of those students were selected, along with 16 alternates, to join other amazing musicians from across Monroe County to perform in large ensembles during Music In Our Schools Month in March. The One Webster musicians are participating in MCSMA Festivals for elementary (grades 5-6), junior high (grades 7-9), senior high (grades 9-12), and jazz (grades 7-12).

“These experiences are memorable and transformative for so many of our musicians,” said Michael Roller, Webster CSD Director of Fine Arts. “The special feeling of collaborative music making is an invaluable part of a well-rounded education. We are proud of these students for taking it beyond our classrooms and are excited to see the positive impact of their music experience when they come back to share it with their peers.”
