WCSD Digital Citizenship Spotlight
The spotlight is a newsletter and resource guide that will continue to provide a toolkit of resources related to the changing world of technology. The goal is to help share information with community, teachers and students so we can navigate the digital age and promote continuous learning and compassionate and joyful use of technology. An archive of spotlight issues can be found at the bottom of this webpage.Chromebook Information
We are very excited to have your family join the Webster Central School District community. In an effort to support equitable access to increase learning opportunities, engagement, collaboration, and creativity for all Webster CSD students, the district provides an electronic device for each student in grades six through twelve as part of the Transforming Learning Through Technology student device initiative. This initiative was approved by the Webster Board of Education on April 7, 2016.
Beginning with the 2016-17 school year, all secondary students (grades 6- 12) were assigned their own Chromebook, which is taken home to extend learning beyond the traditional school day schedule. Students use this device as a tool to support their learning.
As part of the Transforming Learning through Technology initiative, all families are offered a Chromebook protection plan that ensures protection of the device if it is accidentally damaged. The cost for the Chromebook User Agreement Policy and Protection Plan is as follows:
New Student to Webster |
2020-2021 |
2021-2022 |
12th Grade (Senior) |
$10 |
$10 |
6th through 11th grade |
$20 |
$10 |
The Chromebook User Agreement Policy and Protection plan can be found by following this link.
All devices are scheduled to be replaced every three years. At the end of the 2021-2022 school year, all devices will be collected and families will complete a new user agreement and protection plan which will cover the next three year cycle of the student devices.
If you have any questions regarding student devices, please feel free to contact Brian Zimmer.
