Copyright is a law of the United States Government.  The law gives protection to anyone who creates original works.  It gives that person the rights of reproduction, adaptation, distribution and public performance or display of the work. 

When a person creates an original work, he or she is automatically protected under copyright law.  

Anytime you are doing research and use someone else's work (ideas, words, illustrations/pictures), you must CITE THE SOURCE.
