Schroeder Performers Shine at Stars of Tomorrow
Rochester Broadway Theatre League hosted its annual Stars of Tomorrow Gala on May 8, and what a day for Webster Schroeder Musicals!The Warriors’ production of On the Town was recognized with: Excellence in Dance Ensemble, Excellence in Acting Ensemble, Excellence in Vocal Ensemble, and Achievement in Theatrical Storytelling. In the large school (500+) category, Schroeder was recognized as a “Showstopper” production as a top 10 scoring show this season!
Celebrated as individual Achievement in Performance award winners were: Lilah K. as “Hildy”, Emma . as “Ivy”, Rowan M. as “Gabey”, Brody W. as “Ozzie”, and Rory G. as “Chip”.
Additionally, dance captain/featured soloist Hailey K. received a Director’s Recognition, and Tip of the Hat Awards (special recognitions given from evaluators) were presented to Avarie C. (stage manager), Evan B. (Pitkin W. Bridgework), Ally H. (ensemble), Maura U. (Madame Dilly), and Tanner P. (Turnstile Announcer). Plus, the Schroeder cast and crew voted for the All-Stars of their On the Town performances and Maura U. (Madame Dilly) and Avarie C. (stage manager) garnered those honors.
A huge congratulations to Schroeder’s NYC Bound nominees: Lilah, Rory, and Brody. On May 19, they competed in the RBTL Stars of Tomorrow preliminary judging. Each of the 40 student nominees performed vocal selections throughout several rounds of eliminations. Webster’s three talented performers represented Schroeder in front of Broadway professional and LeRoy native, John Bolton, and Rochester-based actor, director, and private acting coach, J. Simmons. Two days later all of the nominees were back on the RBTL stage to perform for the public. Lilah, Brody and Rory each performed amazingly! A special shout-out to Lilah for making it to the final round!
“This program is built on teamwork, heart, ridiculous amounts of hard work, and students who continually raise the bar. We are so proud of every single person who helped bring On the Town to life this season — cast, crew, pit, families, and staff,” said Katherine Goodman, show music director for On the Town.
