Webster Art Students Win Honors at RIT Exhibit
Impressive art starts here, at Webster CSD!Each year the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Bevier Gallery hosts START HERE, an exhibit featuring student art work selected by high school and middle school teachers from throughout the Rochester and Finger Lakes region. Webster CSD has a rich history of student winners in this juried show. This year is no exception.
RIT presented 36 awards in total to artists from participating schools. Three of those honors went to Webster CSD creatives.
Webster Schroeder High School senior Itahlia P. received the School of Design Graphic Design Award for her gouache piece Reaching. She is a student of Cate Zalewski.
The School of Design presented the 3D Digital Design Award to Alyssa B. for her piece, Fractured Twisted Lamp, made of reed, tissue and light. The Webster Thomas High School junior is a student of Cathy Morrill.
The School of Film and Animation Director Award was bestowed upon Isaiah C. for his digital animation Past Present Future. The Webster Schroeder junior is a student of Jack Golden.
Additionally, the sculpture Full Front, by Maura U., was among the handful of art pieces chosen to adorn the exhibit’s poster. Maura is a student of Danielle Zatkowsky at Webster Schroeder.
There’s still time to see these and other impressive works by student artists. START HERE 2026 opened January 23 and closes February 7 in RIT’s Bevier Gallery, Booth Hall 2600, RIT Campus. Gallery hours are Monday-Tuesday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Wednesday-Thursday 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., Friday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and Saturday noon-5:00 p.m. Closed Sundays.
