The Webster Athletic Hall of Fame celebrates the rich heritage and winning traditions of Webster's public high schools. By honoring the exceptional achievements of athletes, coaches, administrators, and community members, we secure their place in our history--whether they competed as Ridgemen, Lakers, Warriors, Titans, or Lions. With the historic induction of our inaugural class on January 2, 2026, we recognize the profound contributions of these remarkable individuals who have shaped our legacy of excellence.

Kevin Akins '78

A dominant thrower, Kevin Akins set Section V records in both the shot put and discus. He became the National Indoor Shot Put Champion in 1983. At Ohio State University, he was an indoor All-American, a two-time Big Ten outdoor champion in shot put (1981, 1982), and set the Ohio State outdoor shot put record in 1982.

Chris Barnes '84

A lifelong Webster resident, Chris Barnes was a foundational figure for girls' lacrosse in the community. He coached the district's very first girls' lacrosse team in 1997 and was a founder of the Webster Women's Lacrosse Club. In 22 years as a coach, he guided the 2006 Webster Thomas team to a Section V Class A Championship. Two local lacrosse events are now named in his honor.

Brian Bliss '83

Brian Bliss was a three-year varsity player at Webster Schroeder High School, while simultaneously participating in the NYSWYSA Olympic Development Program from 1979-1983. He was selected as a US National Youth Team Member in 1983. He had an extensive professional and international soccer career. He was a member of the US National Team for 11 years, earning 44 caps and playing in the 1988 Seoul Olympics and the 1990 World Cup in Italy. His professional career included playing in the German Bundesliga and Major League Soccer. He was a two-time College All-American (1985, 1986).

Dave "Boots" Boutillier '88

Dave Boutillier was a four-year, three-season varsity athlete and captain in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. He was the 1988 Monroe County Champion in the 800m. At the University of Rochester, he became a Cross Country All-American in 1991 and was a member of the 1991 National Championship team. He later won gold (1996) and bronze (1993) medals at the World Duathlon Championships. He founded Fleet Feet Rochester and YellowJacket Racing.

Marc Carlton '00

Marc Carlton was a dominant diver, winning four Section V Championships and four NY State Championships. He was a Public High School National Champion, an All-American, and held NYS and Monroe County records. At Indiana University, he became a six-time NCAA All-American, a Big Ten Champion, and was named Big Ten Diver of the Year. He also represented the US National Team.

Jim Cripps '61

Jim Cripps was All-County in football, basketball, and track his senior year. He led all three teams to undefeated seasons as a senior, with his basketball team being voted the best in Section V history. He is a member of both the Section V Football and Basketball Halls of Fame. He attended Syracuse University on a football scholarship. Cripps became a Major in the Marine Corps.

Carl Garritano '03

Carl Garritano was a dominant force in football. He was a two-time All-Greater Rochester Player of the Year (2001, 2002) and the 2002 NYS Player of the Year (Class AA). He was the State Championship MVP in 2002 and led his teams to three NYS titles. He ranks fourth in Section V history with 5,210 rushing yards and third with 76 touchdowns. He later played on a full scholarship at Fordham University.

Gregor Gillespie '05

Gregor Gillespie is considered one of the most dominant wrestlers in New York State history. A two-time captain, he was a two-time NYS Champion, four-time NYS Placer, and a five-time Section V Champion, earning induction into the Section V Wrestling Hall of Fame. He holds school records for most wins, most falls, and most takedowns. He continued his career at Edinboro University, where he became a Division 1 NCAA National Champion and a four-time NCAA D1 All-American. Following his collegiate success, Gillespie became a professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter, competing at the highest level in the UFC.

Willink J. "Bill" Guerrera

A foundational coach and administrator, Bill Guerrera served as Head Football Coach from 1961-1974, winning two division championships. He originated the Webster Boys Lacrosse program, coaching from 1964-1975 and winning a Section V Championship in 1975. He also served as the Department Chairman of Physical Education and Athletics and is a member of the USA Lacrosse Greater Rochester Area Hall of Fame.

Colleen C. Kelly '02

Colleen Kelly was a standout three-sport athlete. In basketball, she was a three-time All-Greater Rochester First Team selection and the Monroe County Player of the Year as a senior. In softball, she was a two-time First Team All-State selection (2001, 2002), a two-time Monroe County Player of the Year, and won two Section V championships. She played Division 1 basketball at Brown University, where she now serves as a Senior Associate Athletic Director.

Patrick J. Kelly II '83

A three-sport athlete, Patrick Kelly excelled in football, where he was an All-Greater Rochester selection and inducted into the Section V Football Hall of Fame. He played college football at Syracuse University before an NFL career. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos, played in Super Bowl XXIV, and also played for the New York Jets.

Brian Kozlowski '88

A multi-sport athlete, Brian Kozlowski went on to play 14 years in the National Football League for the New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons, and Washington Redskins. He was a starter for the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl XXXIII. At the University of Connecticut, he was known for his consistency, starting 43 consecutive games. UConn established the "Brian Kozlowski Award" in his honor.

Jim Kruze

Jim Kruze, also known as Kruzer, served the district as a long-time coach for girls soccer, cross country, and track and field. He is most known for his role as the head athletic supervisor, a position he has devoted himself to for over 30 years. He has been honored by MCPSAC and Section V, and the Schroeder outdoor press box is named in his honor.

Rachel Kruze '99

Rachel Kruze was a key player who helped lead the Webster soccer program to a top 5 national ranking. She was a multiple-time All-Greater Rochester selection and went on to play at West Virginia University, earning All-Big East honors. Following her collegiate career, she played professionally in the WUSA.

Brenna Mason '12

A starting varsity goalkeeper, Brenna Mason led Webster Thomas to three sectional championships and one state final appearance. Her senior year, she was named an All-American, the NSCAA New York State Player of the Year, and the All-Greater Rochester Player of the Year. She went on to play Division 1 soccer at Colgate University, where she was named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year.

Linda McCoy

A dedicated P.E. teacher and coach for decades, Linda McCoy had a profound impact on Webster athletics. She served as the varsity coach for field hockey and girls' basketball , and coached modified basketball for decades. She was also a fixture of the Thomas High School softball program. The Thomas varsity softball field and a field at Ridge Park are both named in her honor.

Bill O'Rourke Jr. '65

A decorated player and coach, Bill O'Rourke Jr. played for his father before a collegiate career at St. John Fisher and being drafted by the New York Knicks. He returned to Webster and coached the varsity team for 35 seasons, winning 468 games and two Section V championships. He is a member of the Section V Basketball Hall of Fame. The Webster Thomas gym is named in honor of him and his father. Together with his father, Bill Sr., the O'Rourke duo coached in Webster for a combined 63 years, winning 811 games.

Bill O'Rourke Sr.

A pillar of the Webster basketball program, Bill O'Rourke Sr. coached for 28 years, amassing an outstanding record of 343 wins. He began coaching in 1950. His coaching career at Webster spanned 28 years (1950-1978), in which time he amassed a strong 343-193 record. His teams won eight Monroe County Championships and played in five Section V Championship games ('61, '70, '72, '75, '78), winning the Class AA Championship in 1961 with a team that would later (1996) be named as Section V's All-Time Best Team. Locally, he was an inaugural inductee into the Frontier Walk of Fame.

Thomas O'Rourke '70

Tom O'Rourke is the leading scorer in Webster basketball history with 1,241 points. A three-year starter, he led the team to a 51-10 record. He was a two-time All-Greater Rochester selection (1969, 1970) and a two-time Coach and Athlete magazine All-American. He is a member of the Section V Basketball Hall of Fame.

Emily Resnick '15

Emily Resnick was a dominant lacrosse player, serving as a five-season varsity athlete and three-season captain. She was named an All-American in both 2014 and 2015. A three-time All-Greater Rochester First Team selection, she set school records for career points (426), career goals (273), and career assists (153). She continued her career playing Division 1 lacrosse at Syracuse University.

Carrie Santore '00

Carrie Santore was a six-year varsity gymnast and four-year captain. She was named to the All-County First Team every year from 1995-2000. At SUNY Brockport, she became a four-time NCGA National Champion and, in 2005, became the only Division III athlete in history to qualify for and advance to the event finals at the NCAA Division I National Championships.

Nina Scalzo '00

A member of the NYS Soccer Hall of Fame, Nina Scalzo scored 90 goals and 50 assists during her high school career. She was named All-Greater Rochester Player of the Year in 1998 and Monroe County Division I Player of the Year in 1999. She continued her athletic career playing soccer for Syracuse University.

Joseph Zaccardo '05

Joseph Zaccardo was a standout multi-sport athlete in both football and baseball. He distinguished himself on the football field, earning recognition for both his career passing and career rushing achievements. Zaccardo's excellence was highlighted by being named the All-Greater Rochester Player of the Year and his subsequent induction into the Section V Football Hall of Fame.
