Fourth Grader Celebrated for Doing the Right Thing
Webster CSD fourth grader Nicholas (Nico) F. arrived at Plank Road South Elementary School in style with a little help from his West Webster Fire Department (WWFD) friends. Nico enjoyed a fire truck ride to school on November 16 as WWFD helped celebrate him as a Do the Right Thing Award recipient.
West Webster Fire Chief Brian Kelly nominated Nico for the Rochester Police Department’s Do the Right Thing Award following his heroic actions. Last year, WWFD responded to Nico’s house after a report of a possible fire. Nico woke up his parents and siblings when he smelled smoke and was able to safely get everyone out of the house before the fire department’s arrival.
Rochester Police Department’s Do The Right Thing program is designed to seek out the outstanding youth of our community who have distinguished themselves as a role model for their peers. They achieve this status by committing random acts of kindness or by simply doing the right thing.
Nico was further recognized by the Rochester Police Department during a ceremony also held the morning of November 16.
