Students Earn Regional, State & All-Eastern Music Honors

Webster CSD is proud to announce the participation of Webster Thomas High School Select Choir students Shanna S., Mya V., and Lauryn W. in the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) All Eastern Honors Festival, to be held April 13-16 in Rochester. These exceptional musicians will join with more than 700 students in six different ensembles, selected from across 12 eastern states.

To be selected for All-Eastern, students must first achieve New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Conference All-State level.  Achieving this honor in December are the previously mentioned students, as well as Webster Schroeder High School student Stephen Moulton, mixed chorus, and Webster Thomas high school student Marcello Serventi, choral alternate. Thousands of students auditioned for this honor last spring at solo and ensemble festivals throughout the state. Concerts were held at the acclaimed Eastman Theatre after rehearsals took place throughout the conference.
 
Webster CSD would also like to recognize the many student musicians in our secondary music department who participated in the NYSSMA Junior High (grades 7-9) and Senior High (grades 10-12) Area All State festivals in band, chorus, and orchestra. These are emotionally motivating performance experiences on their own and steppingstones to conference and national levels.
 
One Webster students participating in Junior High Area All State were: from Willink Middle School Madeline H., Jackson S., Benedict S., Evelyn A., Emma Z., Madison B., Zachary S., and Charlotte S.; from Spry Middle School Eva S., Brennan S., Tanner P., Abby B., Savannah L., Rory G., Anara B., Ella C., Evan B., Sara L., and Lilah K.; from Webster Schroeder High School Rafael O., Aaron S., Jayliana J., Michela M., Sophia K., Katie M., Zoe B., and Logan L.; and from Webster Thomas High School Jay C., Colleen W., Matteo S., and Colin R.
 
Performing in the Senior High Area All State were: from Webster Thomas Ethan W., Abby R., Eric C., Sophia M., Catherine M., Tess B., Alyssa W., Marcello S., Lauryn W., Kathryn B., Bella R., Mya V., Tegan S., and Shanna S.; and from Webster Schroeder Justin C., Veronica S., Jacqueline H., Ben R., Sam L., Hannah L., Stephen M., David L., and Sara F.
 
“Participating in these festivals creates even more connections for students to know that the impact of fine arts in their school district is amplified beyond their own classroom,” said Michael Roller, Webster CSD Director of Fine Arts. “I applaud all of the teachers, families, and districts that support students in their musical journey.”
