Webster CSD Superintendent Dr. Gumina Announces Retirement
Webster CSD’s Board of Education has announced that after 31years in education, Dr. Carmen Gumina will retire as superintendent of schools. The board accepted Dr. Gumina’s retirement during its April 29 meeting, effective Friday, April 30.
“The Webster CSD Board of Education expresses its sincere appreciation to Dr. Gumina for more than three decades of service and commitment to thousands of Webster students and families,” said Board of Education President Tammy Gurowski. “We wish him well as he begins this next chapter and thank him for making a difference in our schools and community.”
The board of education appointed Brian Neenan, current Webster CSD Deputy Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, as interim superintendent of schools during its April 29 meeting, effective April 30.
Mr. Neenan has served in his dual role as deputy superintendent since 2015 and assistant superintendent for instruction since 2013. Prior to that, he was the principal of Webster CSD’s Willink Middle School from 2009-2013. Mr. Neenan began his administrative career with Victor CSD as an assistant principal at the junior high from 2005-2009. Mr. Neenan started his career in education as a mathematics and computer science teacher, sharing his teaching acumen with Fairport CSD from 1996-2005. His leadership skills and exemplary ability to collaborate and communicate with colleagues will continue to be assets for Webster CSD.
The board of education will continue to communicate updates regarding the search for a new superintendent.
