Dear
Webster Art and Music Teachers,
In case you haven't heard yet ... April 5, 2008 , marks the 32nd Anniversary of Community Arts Day (CAD). To all the new teachers in our district you may ask, “What is CAD?” For all our experienced teachers you may say, “Here we go again!
Community Arts Day was established as a means to keep Cultural Arts alive in our schools. When the budget could no longer provide for this venue, the Webster PTSA and our teachers felt that the Arts, i.e. music, art, dance and literature were important enhancements to our children's curriculum at every grade level. Hence, Community Arts Day was created as a joint venture with every school to raise money to provide for a variety of cultural arts programs, but more importantly, to showcase our children's creative talent and artwork and involve the whole community in a day to celebrate Cultural Arts. The profit made from CAD is equally divided among the 11 schools and goes into each school's Cultural Arts budget to be spent on programs/artists that enhance the curriculum.
Every year at Community Arts Day our biggest spotlight shines on the talents of the Webster children. It is through your efforts that these talents are showcased. As always, parents and relatives come to see their children's artwork and watch their performances throughout the day. With the tremendous effort of our PTSA-CAD committee, teachers, parents and lots of volunteers, Community Arts Day is an event the entire community looks forward to.
The PTSA-CAD committee formally invites you to join us on Saturday, April 5, 2008 , along with one or more of your talented groups to participate in a celebration of school, community and our 32 nd year. We know and appreciate the extra effort on your part to commit to this day and ready the children. The end result of seeing the proud and satisfied faces of children performing or showing off their artwork, and the proud feelings of family and friends is the reminder why Community Arts Day has been successful for so many years.
Members of the CAD committee will be sending letters to you in January-February to ask you to sign up to provide “School Art”, “Performing Artists Groups”, and target students for creating entries into the “Reflections Program.” Your time and support is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Tina Smagala and Monica Kraft Co-Chairs of Community Arts Day
