Webster Central PTSA is again sponsoring the National PTA Reflections Program with competition in Visual Arts, Photography, Literature, Dance Choreography, Film/Video Production and Music Composition. The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program that provides a venue for students to create and be recognized for original works of art based upon a pre-selected theme while increasing community awareness of the importance of the arts in education. All students living in the Webster School District and in Grades K to 11 are invited to participate in this year's competition. Entries must be the original work of an individual student and must be new pieces of work inspired by this year's theme, “WOW”. Entries will be judged based on artistic merit, creativity, and interpretation of the theme.
All entries will be displayed at COMMUNITY ARTS DAY ON SATURDAY, APRIL 5, 2008 AT WEBSTER SCHROEDER HIGH SCHOOL, 875 Ridge Road . Ribbons will be awarded in all six categories for each age division in each school. Three “Best of Show” winners for each category will be selected from all entries submitted by students attending Webster Public Schools . The “Best of Show” winners will move on to the Genesee Valley PTA Regional Reflections Competition. All other entries will be returned to the schools by April 11th.
In addition, three “Best of Show - Special Education” winners will be selected from all categories of entries submitted by students attending Webster Public School who meet the special education definition established by New York State PTA. These entries will then advance to the Genesee Valley PTA Regional Reflections Competition. Special Education entries will be judged separately up to and including judging at the New York State level and will receive Special Education recognition. Special Education entries will be mainstreamed for National entry judging. Special Education students, for purposes of judging Reflection entries are those students identified as requiring additional services to meet and maintain basic education standards. Eligible students may enter but are not limited to participation in the Special Education category. Student entries will be judged based upon the student's developmental age and are subject to the same rules specified for each discipline (i.e. Students with a development age above fifth grade must submit a music manuscript.)
