APPLICATIONS

Applications for employment as a School Bus Driver require additional forms.  Please print the following forms found below.  An asterisk will note if more than one copy is required
1.  Instruction document that explains the additional 4 required forms.
2.  Standards for Employee
3.  Letter of Recommendation  *3
4.  Employer Information Release  *3
5.  Driving Related Jobs
 

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be at least 21 years of age and have or obtain appropriate license.
 
Drive Record Abstract check – (if prospective employee has previously driven a commercial vehicle, new employer must also contact previous employers for past 10 years)
 
Fingerprinting – criminal history background check with NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services and Federal Bureau of Investigation
 
-          3 personal references
-          Superintendent’s Approval in writing
-          Physical – within 4 weeks of first transporting students
-          Physical performance test
-          Drug Test (pre-employment)
-          SED 3-hours Pre-Service Course completed prior to transporting students
 
Within First Year of Employment – Once Only
 
SED 30 Hours Basic Course completed
 
Every Year:
  • Minimum of two 2-hour Refresher Training sessions
  • Physical
  • Annual Defensive Driving Performance Review
  • Annual Review of Driving Record
  • Subject to random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing
 
Every Two Years:
  • Biennial Behind-the-Wheel Road Test
  • Biennial Written (or Oral) Test
  • Physical performance Test
