Copyright Resources
for Webster Schools
Copyright is a law of the United States Government. The law gives protection to anyone who creates original works. It gives that person the rights of reproduction, adaptation, distribution and public performance or display of the work.
Fair use allows teachers and students the use of some portions of copyrighted materials for educational use. There are limits to the amount and kind of materials allowed. See the fair use link on this page.
Anytime a person creates an original work, he or she is automatically protected under copyright law. YOU MUST ASSUME that any work you are using is copyrighted, even if it is not labeled as such. Anytime you want to use someone else's work, you must cite the source, and follow the fair use guidelines.
The Webster Central School District does not sanction illegal use of copyrighted materials. All district employees and students who violate the copyright law of the United States, do so at their own risk.
